Test of six new FiFi tugboats
Today we tested the firefighting equipment on board six new Port of Antwerp-Bruges tugs, in cooperation with the intervention services of ExxonMobil, Auxiliary Zone Waasland and Fire Brigade Zone Antwerp.
These tugs are not only crucial for the daily operations of the port, but also play an essential role in firefighting in the Seaport-Scheldt Fire Network.
With two powerful pumps, these tugs can deliver as much as 40,000 liters of water per minute through their monitors or feed a Fire Department Large Water Transport (GWT) through a collector on deck.
The new investment not only allows for faster intervention capacity, but also provides additional redundancy during maintenance periods, for example, so that sufficient resources are always available. The first is the vessel VOLTA 1, the first all-electric tug within Europe and thus also the first all-electric intervention resource of BZS!
